The demand for legal/law professionals has witnessed a 3 per cent rise in demand between August and October, according to TimesJobs.comRecruiteX data. The profile has reported a 1 per cent rise in demand since January 2015. Manufacturing, hotel/travel/tourism, consulting, financial services and IT are some of the key sectors hiring law graduates.

Interestingly, these sectors account for over 50 per cent of the total jobs available for law graduates while legal/law firms have a 5 per cent share in total jobs for this profile, reveals TimesJobs.com data. As a result, the opportunities for law graduates are not confined to core legal sector but they can look forward to a rewarding career in most major sectors of the Indian economy.

Below are some of the top job roles available for law graduates:

Solicitors: Solicitors provide legal support and advice to clients. They advise clients on matters which require legal intervention, suggesting necessary courses of action. The clients can be individuals, groups, public sector or private organisations. They can choose to do private practise or work for commercial or industrial companies. They can also opt to work with governments or in courts. Advocate/barrister: They are specialists in advocacy and represent individuals or organisations in court. Generally, they are hired by solicitors to represent a case in the court of law.
